Microchips

At Sunrise Pet Hospital, we offer Home Again microchipping services as a way to permanently identify your pet. Collars and name tags can fall off your pet, but microchips are permanent! Microchipping is done by injecting a tiny chip (about the size of a grain of rice) between the pet's shoulder blades and takes seconds to complete. Many clients choose to have their pet microchipped while their pet is anesthetized for a spay or neuter, but the procedure can be done at any time and is relatively pain free. Each microchip has a unique number associated with it which is enrolled through Home Again's database. When a lost pet is brought to a shelter or veterinary office, the pet is scanned with a microchip scanner and the owner can be traced through the database. Microchipping your pet gives you added peace of mind that should your pet ever be lost, he or she can be returned to you.
